Rainbows on the Hudson 2021

How about helping us show our PRIDE in a safe manner?

For the last 19 years, Knickerbocker Sailing Association (KSA) has done our Rainbows on the Hudson (formerly know as Parade of Sails) celebrating PRIDE by displaying our colors on the Hudson River.

We will do it again this year

We will gather north of the Statue of Liberty starting at 11am and lunch there. We will then line up and head north up the Hudson River and show our colors.

There are three types of Registration

Please register you boat as captain

If you are a crew member assigned to a boat please register and indicate the boat to which you are assigned.

In the past years we have allowed guests to register to try and find space on one of our boats. This year you may register as crew looking for a boat, but that availability will be extremely limited due to Covid19. The best option is to reach out directly to one of our participating captains.

What to expect

Boats will gather north the Statue of Liberty and south of Ellis Island beginning at 11am on Saturday June 26th and plan to lunch there.  When entering that area be sure to be well aware of the security markers (white) and stay clear of the area. (Well depicted on the chart) Depending on sea conditions, boats will either anchor up or request to raft up to an anchored vessels. Two important points....if you allow your guest to swim please put out a line as the current could be can be very strong.....also if you are approaching a raft up, do NOT approach if swimmers are in the water.

At approximately 1pm, we will depart the statue and head to the Battery. Once there we will head north up the Hudson river.  Our crossing will be at slack in the Hudson. The ride north will slow as we are facing 1.5 to 2 kts as we get further north. We plan to get to the Intrepid Museum and make a port turn to head south on the Hudson following the same track. The return trip will be much quicker as we have a favorable tide.

For those of you that are able please join us for a physically distant Cocktail Party and Potluck Dinner (BYOE) at the docks at Pier 115 Marina in Brooklyn.
