Shelter Island, Greenport, Peconic Bay — August 4–9

We are all coming from different directions so to speak.  Here is our flotilla plan, unlike any other before.  We are fortunate to have KSA members in the area step up and host us for this lovely Shelter Island weekend. 


Itinerary

Thu 8/4 Northern Fleet: Fishers Island (tentative)
Western Fleet Thursday evening: Mattituck (tentative).
Fri 8/5 6pm

Pipes Cove! Burger burn and hot dogs at Bernie's and Marianne's place in Pipes Cove.  BYOB +  salad, side, dessert.

1600 Bay Shore Road, Greenport, NY. Dinghy to the beach, take the wooden walkway to the road, left off the path.

Sat 8/6 5pm Coecles Harbor!  Short walk to Isaac's place for dinner.  Fried chicken, cole slaw, corn bread. BYOB + party snack (e.g. popcorn, pretzels, chips and salsa, caviar) + dessert.

9 Johnston Road, Shelter Island, NY (less than 1 mile walk from dock)

Sun 8/7 5–7pm Greenport! Happy hour at KSA member Brent's restaurant: American Beach, 300 Main St, Greenport, NY.  
Dinner on your own. If dining at American Beech, reservations suggested.
Mon 8/8, Tues 8/9 TBD by Western and Northern bound fleets. 


Times and details may change ever so slightly but the dates and events have now been cast in stone.  ( We hope. )

Some Notes & Details on the Venues

Fishers Island

  • West Harbor has moorings (orange on top, blue on bottom) and an anchorage ~ 15'–20'.

Mattituck

  • Mattituck Inlet Marina (631) 298-4480.
  • Strong's Water Club & Marina (631) 298-4739.
  • Mattituck Federal Anchorage has room for 6–8 boats, dinghy dock, walk to restaurants.

Greenport

  • Pipes Cove is west of town.  Good anchorage, dinghy to town.

Coecles Harbor

  • Coecles Harbor Marina (631) 749-0700.
  • Coecles Harbor has good anchorage.

Getting to Greenport and Shelter Island by Land

Some options:
